Aalekh is an architect-led studio in Basavanagudi, Bangalore, working across South India. We have delivered 24 projects in four years, led by an architect with seven years in practice. We design homes, interiors and commercial spaces. The same Principal Architect reviews every one before it is built.

01 The studio
Small on purpose, one project at a time.
Aalekh has been designing out of Bangalore for four years. It has delivered 24 projects: 20 interiors and 4 ground-up architecture. The built work stands in Bangalore, in Kurnool and in Belgaum. Some of it was run remotely for owners living abroad.
We keep the studio small on purpose. A home or a workspace deserves an architect's judgement. That judgement is carried from the first plan to the last site visit. It is not handed down a production line. So we take on one project per designer at a time. The person who draws your home is the person who sees it built.
Every project is founder-reviewed. Before anything is built, Ar. Pooja Kothari reviews the design herself. That review is the studio's promise: the home you approve is the home that gets built.
02 The founder
Ar. Pooja Kothari
Pooja is the Principal Architect and founder of Aalekh. She leads design and reviews every project the studio ships. The founder review that travels with the drawings is hers.
She is a registered architect with the Council of Architecture, India. Her work runs across residential interiors. It also spans ground-up homes and commercial spaces. It is always drawn from the plan and the climate, not from a catalogue.
In 2026 she was selected for Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women at NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore. It is a programme for high-growth women founders. It shows credibility. It is also a commitment. It means building a design-led architecture studio out of India. That studio stands on the quality of its work.
03 How we design
A contemporary Indian home, made for this climate.
India has a courtyard-and-jaali language older than any trend. Bangalore's climate rewards a home that is planned for its light and air.
Those ideas have to survive the drawing set. So every project goes through a founder review before it is built. Ar. Pooja Kothari checks four things. She checks which way the house faces, and what the west wall is doing all afternoon. She checks the storage and the flow of the plan against how the family really lives. She checks the material list against this climate and this dust. And she checks the drawings against the site as measured, not as assumed.
