The studio
A founder-led architecture and interior studio in Bangalore & South India.
Aalekh is an architect-led studio based in Bangalore and working across South India, seven years old, with 27 projects delivered. We design homes, interiors and commercial spaces, and the same Principal Architect reviews every one before it is built.
The studio, Bangalore
01 The studio
Small on purpose, one project at a time.
Aalekh has been designing in Bangalore and across South India for seven years. In that time we have delivered 27 projects, 20 interiors, 4 architecture and 3 delivered remotely for NRI clients, for families across the region and for owners running the project from abroad.
We keep the studio deliberately small. A home or a workspace deserves an architect's judgement carried from the first plan to the last site visit, not handed down a production line. So we take on one project at a time per team, and the person who draws your home is the person who sees it built.
Every project is founder-reviewed. Before anything is built, Ar. Pooja Kothari reviews the design herself. That review is the studio's promise: the home you approve is the home that gets built.
02 The founder
Ar. Pooja Kothari
Pooja is the Principal Architect and founder of Aalekh. She leads design and reviews every project the studio ships. The founder review that travels with the drawings is hers.
She is a registered architect with the Council of Architecture, India. Her work runs across residential interiors, ground-up homes and commercial spaces, always drawn from the plan and the climate rather than a catalogue.
In 2026 she was selected for Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women at NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore, a programme for high-growth women founders. It is a credibility marker, and a commitment: to build a design-led architecture studio out of India that stands on the quality of its work.
03 How we design
A contemporary Indian home, made for this climate.
India has a courtyard-and-jaali vocabulary older than any trend, and Bangalore's climate rewards a home that is planned for its light and air.
We design contemporary Indian spaces, rooted in climate logic, courtyards, jaali and craft, and vastu when the client wants it. Not exotica, and not a copy of a magazine, a home that reads as Indian and modern at once, and stays comfortable because it is planned to.
04 How we work
Founder-reviewed, and built to run over video.
- Founder review on every project
Ar. Pooja Kothari reviews the design before anything is built, so judgement travels with the drawings.
- One project at a time, per team
The person who draws your home carries it to site, so nothing gets lost in a handover.
- Video-first for owners abroad
Regular photo and video reports and 3D walkthroughs before spend, so distance is not a disadvantage.
- Honest about vastu and budget
We design to vastu when it matters to you, and tell you plainly where it fights daylight or cost.
